There are many reasons why you may want to uninstall a software application from your computer. Usually, applications contain an uninstaller and removing them from the Start menu or Control Panel was a simple process in previous versions of Windows®.

In Windows® 8, it is slightly different. You have two options you can use to remove an application in Windows® 8. The instructions below describe both ways.

Uninstalling an Application in Windows® 8 Metro:

  1. Right-click on the tile of the application you want to remove.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, a new bar will appear.
  3. Click the “Uninstall” icon.
  4. The classic “Program and Features” section of the Control Panel is opened.
  5. Simply right-click on the application and select “Uninstall”.

Uninstalling an Application in the Windows® 8 Control Panel:

  1. From the Start screen, place your mouse cursor to the bottom-right corner of the screen to display the side bar.
  2. Click the “Search” icon.
  3. In the search box, type “Control Panel” and click the “Apps” tile (option).
  4. A list of results will be displayed, including “Control Panel”. Click it.
  5. The classic “Program and Features” section of Control Panel is opened.
  6. Simply right-click on the application and select “Uninstall”.
