May 16, 2014  |  Difficulty: Easy

Enable Find My iPhone®

Apple® developed an excellent security feature for iPhone® owners called “Find My iPhone®”.  It enables you to locate, play a sound on, track, remotely lock, or erase your lost iOS device. For the “Find My iPhone®” feature to work, the device needs to be on and connected to the Internet. You also will need to set it up on each iOS and Mac® device. At a minimum, “Find My iPhone” requires iOS 5 or later, and if you want to turn on its tracking, you must have iOS 6 or later. The “Find My iPhone” feature is disabled by default in Apple® devices. To turn it on, follow the simple step-by-step instructions below.

Turn On the “Find My iPhone” Feature:

  1. Open the “Settings” application in your iPhone®.
  2. Tap on the “iCloud” item.
  3. Scroll down and tap (switch on) the “Find My iPhone” item.
If the system requires it, fill in your Apple® ID password.
  4. The Find My iPhone feature now is enabled.
