Launch Task Manager in Windows 8.

The Task Manager tool allows users to control the running processes of the Windows® operating system. Task Manager provides viewers with insights on which application takes the most resources from the CPU or which one is occupying the most RAM. It also permits users to stop services, applications and processes.

In Windows® 8, Task Manager is slightly different than in previous versions. It is the simplest Task Manager of all the Windows® releases so far. When launched, it shows only those applications that are currently running in the system. In the instructions below, learn how to launch Task Manager and get a more detailed view to be displayed.

  3. Click on the “More details” button to view the expanded version of Task Manager.
  4. The complete Windows® 8 Task Manager opens displaying the classic tabs, such as Performance, Processes, etc.
