Laptops users with an operating system issue usually can solve the problem with a rescue disc provided by their laptop manufacturers. But if you own a classic desktop personal computer, you may have to reinstall the operating system using a DVD with Windows® 7 installation files, and boot your computer from this media.
If you find yourself in this type of situation, all you have to do is follow the instructions below to learn how to install the original, clean Windows® 7 operating system on your computer. This process might seem long and complicated, but it really isn’t! After you go through all the described steps, you’ll realize almost anyone can install Windows® 7 from a DVD.
Windows® 7 installation instructions:
- Place the installation disc into the optical drive and restart your computer.
- In BIOS set booting from optical drive (read the instruction in the article that focuses on the booting computer from a CD or DVD).
- Select “Windows Setup (EMS Enabled)” option and press enter (If the option is displayed).
- Wait until the Windows® installer loads all files.
- Select your language and location, and then click the “Next” button.
- Click the “Install Now” button.
- Read the license terms and check the “I accept the license terms” checkbox, and then click the “Next” button.
- Select type of installation:
Upgrade – only upgrades all newer files and keeps your files, settings and programs.
Custom (advanced) – Install a new full copy of Windows®.
In this demonstration, select the “Custom (advanced)” option. - Choose the disk drive in the list or create a new partition by clicking the advanced settings. Click the “Next” button.
- The Windows® install begins. Wait until the installer finishes all five operations. The computer will restart twice during the process.
NOTE: Do not boot from the DVD again during the restarts! - Enter your user name and computer name, and then click the “Next” button.
- Now you can secure your user account by creating a password, type the password in the box or leave it blank. Click the “Next” button.
- Select the way you want to update your operating system, or leave the decision for later.
- Review your time and date settings, and then click the “Next” button.
- The installation process should be complete and your Windows® 7 launched automatically.
