Windows® 7 balloon tips are designed as a user-friendly device to assist users in understanding how to use their computers. As helpful as these may be in the beginning, the constant display of these balloon tips in the system tray notification area can be quite bothersome once you know how your system works.
There is a simple way for you to turn off these messages by just changing a value for one registry key. The instructions below explain how to find this register key and set its value to disable or enable Windows® 7 balloon tips.
Disable / Enable balloon tips in Windows® 7:
- Click the "Start" button, and type "regedit" in the search box and press enter.
- Find the registry identified as:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Advanced. - Right-click on the “Advanced” folder and select “New > DWORD (32-bit) value.
- Name it “EnableBalloonTips”.
- Double-click it to access a pop-up window that allows you to set “Value Data”. Type in 0 to Disable balloon tips or 1 to Enable them. Windows® 7 balloon tips are enabled as a default.
