Most computer users prefer to have a customized desktop in Microsoft Windows®. This could include the placement of favorite family photos, relaxing scenes or celebrity images to personalize the desktop.
In Windows® 8, more screen choices are available and additional screen settings. There is a new Lock Screen image, a new Start Screen image and the familiar Desktop background from Windows® 7 or Windows Vista® which was easily changeable. Follow the instructions below, to customize these screens with your own photograph and image choices.
Changing Lock and Start Screens in Windows® 8 instructions:
- Launch your computer with the Windows® 8 operating system.
- Once it is up and running, you automatically will be at the Start Screen. Place your mouse cursor on the bottom-right corner of the screen where the side bar appears.
- Click the “Settings” button.
- At the bottom of the menu, click the “Change PC Settings” option.
- In the left menu, select “Personalize”.
- On the right side of the screen, you should see three “tabs”:
- Lock Screen
- Start Screen
- Account picture
Select each one to customize by choosing the theme or image you would like to display. - To get back to the Start screen, invoke the side bar like you did in Step 2, and click on the “Start” button or simply press “Alt+F4” on your keyboard.
Tips and Tricks:
