Many Windows® users miss the familiar Start button and its associated menu in Windows® 8 that was released to the general public at a mobile conference in Barcelona, Spain, during the first quarter of 2012. Many developers addressed this issue and released applications to add this button onto a user’s desktop. There are several options and applications available that provide solutions for those who desire to have this button on their desktop. This article describes one such solution, called ViStart© from Lee Soft©, that offers a nearly identical start button as in Windows® 7 and can be easily applied to a desktop in Windows® 8.

 Adding a start button to Windows® 8:

  1. Open your Internet browser and go to the ViStart© download page on the Lee Soft© site.
  2. Click on the “Download” button and save the file to your hard drive.
  3. Launch the downloaded file.
  4. On the Welcome Screen, click on the “Next” button.
  5. Read the terms of the license agreement and click on the “Accept” button.
  6. Decide if you want to execute browser changes, and then click on the “Decline” or “Agree” button.
  7. Decide if you want to install an additional computer cleaner, and click on the “Decline” or “Agree” button.
